Improving your self-esteem isn’t about becoming selfish, loud, competitive and arrogant. It’s about taking care of yourself so that you have the strength and energy to help and give to others when appropriate.

That means looking at the way you live your life, the way you think and the way you feel. As you get to know yourself better you will start to recognise patterns of behaviour, responses or attitudes that make you unhappy.

And once you start to recognise what makes you unhappy you can start making positive changes. And the first of those changes needs to be in the way you think.

If you want to improve your self-esteem you will be required to make an effort, but as self-esteem improves you will soon discover that life gets easier.

You may not believe it, but staying the way you are takes far more effort. It’s hard work worrying and feeling anxious all the time. It’s hard work adjusting yourself constantly to the demands of other people and events. Life gets easier when you start taking care of yourself and start doing the things you want to do. It’s a lot more fun, too!
