To Lord Yelverton the last four days had been very odd ones.
Since he had come back to consciousness and talked to Tula, he found that they were camping beneath the trees by the stream and he felt strongly that he was now isolated in a world that belonged not to mortal beings but to the Gods.
Only someone quite as eccentric as Ajax Audenshaw, he knew, would have been content to let his daughter stay with him under the circumstances without thinking that it might damage her reputation, or cause a scandal.
However, when he thought about it, Lord Yelverton was quite sure that there were very few people in Acapulco to be scandalised by anything that Audenshaw or his family did and everything that could be said about them had been told already.
