Julian Norton

Julian Norton is a British veterinary surgeon, author, and TV personality, best known for his appearances in the award-winning Channel 5 series The Yorkshire Vet.

Julian Norton qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Cambridge Veterinary School in 1996. He has spent most of his working life in his beloved North Yorkshire.

In 2015, Skeldale Veterinary Centre was involved with filming the Channel 5 television series The Yorkshire Vet, in which Julian has the title role. That show helped popularise Yorkshire following the drama and daily routine of a group of town and country vets as they tend to animals of all kinds at four different practices across the region.

Julian is the author of around 10 books about veterinary practice and funny animal stories. He is also a regular contributor to Springtime on the Farm, This Week on the Farm, and The Jeremy Vine Show.

Norton's most popular book, The Diary of a Yorkshire Vet (2018), contains many anecdotes and animal rescue adventures from his veterinary work in North Yorkshire.

Julian Norton was awarded “Yorkshireman of the Year” by The Dalesman in 2017. He’s involved in charities that work with vet students, rare breeds, and other animals.

Outside of work, Julian is a keen triathlete and ski mountaineer. He has represented team GB at the age-group level for both middle-distance triathlons and long-course duathlon.

He is married to Anne, also a veterinary surgeon, and has two sons, Jack and Archie.

Julian Norton has recently opened a new practice in Thirsk, which he runs alongside his wife, Anne. He is also a partner at Sandbeck Veterinary Centre in Wetherby.
