Zverev-Gala

Welcome to the exhibition Zverev-Gala. In French, the word “Gala” means festivity or celebration. This exhibition, which opens on the eve of the AZ Museum’s third anniversary, was envisioned as a festive, sparkling and extraordinary event. It is a present to the museum’s friends both current and future.
The exhibition’s creators AZ Museum Director Natalia Opaleva and Art Curator Polina Lobachevskaya decided to satisfy the requests of museumgoers by presenting a lot of different works by Anatoly Zverev in various genres from portraits and landscapes to abstract compositions. Designer Anatoly Golyshev accomplished the almost impossible task of exhibiting over 287 works by Zverev on the three floors of the relatively small museum building. There are no specified points of view, no precise chronological order, and no hidden agendas. The viewer is simply given the full freedom to enjoy and admire the works of this great 20th-century painter.
For this audio tour, we have chosen 15 outstanding works by Anatoly Zverev from the museum’s collection. They will serve as landmarks during our walk through this gala exhibition.
