None but GOD could utter such a sweeping testimony, such an incendiary personal assertion, such inflammatory faith. “I AM the Light of the World.”
His name is Jesus the Christ. John the Baptist said of him, "‑ at was the “true”
Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (see John 1:9). — The penetrating and unsparing exposure of that Light reveals my fallen nature, the depth of my congenital depravity. I think it was Oswald Chambers that said, “There are some things that I have not done, but there is nothing that I am not capable of.” Or, as I like to say, when I look into the Word of GOD, the Word of GOD looks into me. Yes, I finally discovered the reason for my implacable hesitancy to read and meditate upon the Word of GOD-it shows me who I am, and who I am not.
The lust of the flesh and the pride of life cannot live in such an inexorable exposure.
Jesus Christ is the true Light that enlightens (and informs) every man and woman born into this world that we should live a life that honors our Creator. The Word of GOD is the Reality of the state in which we find ourselves. Most of us do not want to know. We are aided and abetted in our volitional ignorance by the god of this world system which promotes our physical, natural life as the reality (or true meaning) of life, wealth, affluence, position. ‑ e reality of GOD is that I am an eternal being in a temporal vessel. ‑ is body will return to the dust of the earth from which it came, and the breath of this life will return to the One who gave it. Rather than acknowledge, confront, and engage our fallen nature, we deny and circumvent the light, conceal and dissimulate, posture and pontificate-you get the idea. We
must (figuratively and effectively) crucify Christ.
