No one person could bring together such a collection of articles without assistance. First and foremost, I owe a debt of gratitude to Linda Lee Cadwell, Bruce’s wife from 1964 to 1973, for having the pride and disposition to clip and save the various interviews and articles that were written about her husband (particularly those from the early 1960s).
My appreciation also extends to Adrian Marshall, Bruce Lee’s lawyer from 1969 until Lee’s passing in 1973. Both Linda and Adrian have given me solid encouragement in all of the numerous Bruce Lee-related projects I’m involved with.
Many of the publications from which I’ve excerpted materials are now defunct. In all cases, however, an attempt was made to locate either the authors or publishers of these materials for permission to reprint them. Where I was successful, the articles and interviews have been tagged “Reprinted with permission.” Where it proved impossible, I’ve provided those elements of the credits (publication, author, date, etc.) to which I had access.
Nevertheless, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the men and women who wrote these articles for their work in preserving a unique aspect of martial arts heritage. I would also like to thank the following publications for permission to reprint the selections in this volume of the Bruce Lee Library:
