Step 3 Patience - Patience is indeed a virtue that has seem to have been lost in this age of instant gratification. Everyone seems to want immediate, instant, and quick results for almost anything you can think of. The art of patience has lost its value, and more and more we see people who engage in reckless behaviors lack this subtle virtue. Mastering your emotions will take patience internally and outwardly, the patience to wait, and the patience to tolerate others. By no means is patience effortless, but will take practice, restraint and self control. The sooner you implement patience the wiser you become!
Step 4 Observation - By becoming an objective observer which is sort of like a neutral witness you perceive the world without subjectivity. Although we all have some degree of bias engrained in us, we can still attempt to view the world in objective lenses. By setting this framework up we can view scenarios as they happen, and not be moved emotionally by them, but understand why a certain series of cascading events occurred. This gives us leverage over our emotions as now we operate on the basis of objectivity and can make decisions based on facts, and not circumstantial emotions.
Step 5 Rationalization - A lot of times when we let our emotions get out of control we don't really think straight. Our minds are overwhelmed with strong emotional influences and attachments which often make us make bad decisions. But, by rationalizing we reason with ourselves and ask questions. This helps control and alleviate the "emotional high" we may be going through and assists us into seeing things in more clarity. It's like injecting ourselves with a quick dose of reality that brings us back into a state of sensibility as oppose to irrationalism.
