    The first way to answer mundane questions is to dance around the real answer. You are giving information, but in almost riddle-form.

    “I type things in the computer for a living and I’m from a state no one knows anything about except the Kentucky Derby.”

    You put an otherwise mundane answer into an interesting form that requires some thought and almost decoding. While the facts are exactly the same, your presentation makes you look more insightful and like you don’t take yourself seriously. It simply gives people something to respond to or ask about in the case they aren’t an engineer or from Kentucky.
