Nancy Sphinctergritzel (1904–2010) was the most loathed of the Hollywood lushes. Her obsession with Rudolph Valentino was in stating that he never had sex with men and with no woman but her. If this involved inflicting misery on her victims or even bumping a few of them off, so be it. Nancy took no prisoners, and life was hell for anyone who opposed her views. My Life With Rudy took her 68 years to complete, minutes for victims of her homophobia to destroy. A copy of the script was discovered recently. In it Nancy is nasty, unsparing, vicious and vulgar and so stringent in trying to define Valentino as flagrantly heterosexual that she achieves an opposite effect and reveals him as inordinately gay.
