This is a wonderful book, lovely written, and with a great development of the story. There’s some musicality in the narrative, which sometimes made me read out loud the same paragraph several times. The descriptions are build with images nicely embroidered from daily objects and situations. The plot was interesting and it was easy to connect with the story. I loved it, I would read it again many times, and I totally recommend it.
Волшебная, невероятная и в тоже время совершенно реальная история мастерски рассказанная Арундати Рой. Одно из самых сильных моих впечатлений этого книжного года.
Очень, очень сильная книга, мудрая, глубокая. И написана очень хорошо
This is the story that follow the life of the twins Rahel and Estha, and a disaster that change their lives forever. It also give us the perspective of their closer relatives and their community.
Each of the character had a level of suffering and pain that leads to a sad chronicle.
The author describe the background of the story in a vivid manner, the characters were interesting in their own narrative. The story also incorporates a political and cultural scene.
I really tried to like this book but sadly I just didn't. The moving from past to present to further past, deepening of each character that add so little to the main plot made me dislike this story. I felt that the story could have been told in the first two chapters.
I gave it 1/5. But I'll try to read this book in the future.
