Have you ever wanted to know more of what the Bible says about the last things? These six studies are deceptively short, simple, and clear. Each one can be read quickly, but if you really delve into them – checking the Scriptures, working through the Bible studies, thinking through the reflection questions – you will find a rich study resource.
The Bible Themes resource at the end is a useful alphabetical listing of key Bible themes that gives practical and teaching help along with Scripture references. The “see also” cross references are linked within the section.
You can use this ebook for personal Bible study or for group study.
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord for ever” (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17).
The Christian’s hope is a confidence that God’s purposes in history will be fulfilled, culminating in the return of Jesus Christ as described by Paul in 1 Thessalonians. The Bible says that before Christ’s return there will be disorder in the world, and after Christ’s return will be the final judgement. Then will be a new heaven and a new earth with the thrones of God and Christ. “Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life” (Revelation 22:17).
