The natural earth colours

Raw sienna is a good catalyst for colour mixes: this warm yellow colour mixes well with siennas and umbers as well as cadmium yellow and cadmium red to aid the ‘golden’ feel.

Knowing when to stop is the key. Try to use the minimum number of strokes, as ‘dabbing’ will create fussy areas.

An old toothbrush makes an excellent tool for spattering paint over the paper.
