Neil Kaplan was born in London, England during World War II. Neil survived polio as a child and surgery for scoliosis as a teenager. Despite many years of missed schooling, he qualified as a lawyer and has had a distinguished career at the Bar as a Queens Counsel, later as a High Court Judge in Hong Kong and as a leading international arbitrator.
