They’re late for class, and I know you weren’t about to use your gift on campus grounds, Bassinger. That’s rule number one here.”

Atlas smirks and shrugs. “I have an exemption, Shore. I can’t turn mine off, it’s a part of me. Your thug here didn’t like that I’m not worried about him. Honestly? I think he didn’t like that I’m not a Gift-less girl half the size of him that he can throw around.”

Atlas doesn’t like that reaction at all and when the grin drops away, Kieran finally figures out that Atlas isn’t just a grinning, arrogant kid. He’s a Gifted making threats.

“I will never let this go, Fallows. How can I when you’re supposed to be my Bond and instead you’re draping yourself over any other guy on campus? What the fuck went wrong with you that you can act like this?

How the fuck do we tell North about this? I don’t even know what to call it,” Gryphon mutters to Nox, his eyes flicking over his shoulder to me, and I take a deep breath.

but my bond finally calms the fuck down a little once my back is pressed against Gabe’s chest.

My body moves without thought, stalking over to Gabe as if an invisible force is shoving us together, and I plant myself in-between my two Bonds.

Very slowly, as if he’s cautious not to spook me, Nox’s hand slips away from Gabe.

every fiber of my being is honed in on where Nox is holding Gabe’s arm and berating him.

I don’t like that.

“Nox… let him go,” Gryphon says
