David W. Robinson

David W. Robinson, an English author known for his diverse crime fiction, was born and raised in the Yorkshire coalfield before settling near the Pennine Moors outside Manchester. His works range from light-hearted, cosy mysteries to darker, more intense police procedurals, reflecting his eclectic approach to the genre.

After leaving the conventional world of work — by his own account, after "the other rats objected to his participation" — Robinson devoted himself entirely to writing. His most popular series, the Sanford 3rd Age Club Mysteries, features the grumpy but sharp-witted Joe Murray, accompanied by his friends Sheila Riley and Brenda Jump.

Robinson humorously describes Joe and his friends as "born-again teenagers" who travel the UK and Europe solving mysteries in each of the 26 books. The series has developed a loyal audience drawn to its blend of humour and puzzling plots.

In addition to the Sanford 3rd Age Club Mysteries, Robinson created Mrs Capper's Casebook, another cosy mystery series set in Yorkshire. The protagonist, Christine Capper, is a witty, determined blogger, vlogger, private investigator, and local radio presenter. The series has expanded to eight books, with a ninth on the way. Robinson's talent for creating engaging, humorous characters shines through in these works, making them beloved by fans of light-hearted whodunits.

Robinson also explores the darker side of crime fiction. Under his own name, he has written the Feyer & Drake series, a collection of police procedural thrillers that explore more complex and intense themes. His stand-alone novel, The Cutter, further demonstrates his ability to create gripping, suspenseful stories. Writing as Robert Devine, Robinson takes a psychological turn with the Allan Cain thrillers, revealing yet another layer of his storytelling prowess.

Outside of writing, Robinson is known for his "one-megaton" sense of humour, often self-deprecating and cynical. He is also active on social media, sharing his thoughts and gripes with the world on Facebook and YouTube.
