I have done quite a few jobs - including an army cook in Sherwood Forest and English teacher - and lived in a lot of places - including London, Vienna and Venice - and it took me a long time to get down to writing, but now I just see this wealth of experience as fuel for my books. Of course, I'm into Fantasy and sc-fi, so these experiences get subtly twisted and transposed onto other eras and into other worlds.
