Alex James Eccleston

Alex James Eccleston is a British author known for his work in thriller suspense, focusing on stories that blend crime, romance, and psychological tension. He has published several novels, including North Paradise (2019), Hey, You (2020), It’s You (2022), and his most recent book, Forbidden Shores (2024).

Alex James Eccleston was born in northern England, where he spent his childhood surrounded by the countryside. From a young age, he found inspiration in literature, starting with Roald Dahl’s books and later discovering J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. He cites both as early influences on his passion for storytelling.

In his teenage years, he encountered the works of Nicholas Sparks and Stephen King, whose contrasting styles significantly impacted his approach to writing. Reflecting on this period, he once noted, "It wasn’t considered cool to read romance novels as a teenage boy, but The Notebook changed that for me. It opened up a new world of emotional storytelling."
Eccleston’s debut novel, Hey, You (2020), introduced the character of Ellie Greene, a Hollywood star struggling with the pressures of fame. The novel was written without adhering to traditional genre conventions.

When asked about this, Eccleston mentioned, "I had written a draft of Hey, You without considering the ‘Golden Rule of Romance’—a happy ending. I stressed about changing it but then thought, to hell with the rules."

He decided to keep the original ending, a well-received choice by readers. The novel’s success led him to revisit Ellie’s character in It’s You (2022), which took on a darker tone and further explored Ellie’s story. Eccleston described his writing process as allowing the characters to guide the plot, explaining, "Ellie was in the driver’s seat. I let her decisions shape the plot."

In Forbidden Shores (2024), Eccleston tells the story of Sophie Lawson, who unexpectedly connects with Jacob Fawn during a holiday in Tenerife. The novel delves into themes of secrecy and the complexities of relationships, reflecting Eccleston’s interest in creating character-driven narratives.
