Amber Kizer is an American author in the young adult fiction genre. Her debut novel, One Butt Cheek At A Time (2007), was named a New York Public Library Best Book for the Teen Age.
Despite her initial dreams of becoming a criminal prosecuting attorney and a Supreme Court Justice, Amber's life took an unexpected turn due to a rare nerve disorder, stemming from injuries sustained during her basketball-playing days.
"My freshman year of college, I developed a rare nerve disorder in my legs. You can't tell by looking, but I deal with a ton of whacky and weird symptoms, including tough leg pain daily. So I had to change my plans and figure out how to have a career that was flexible and didn't rely heavily on my legs cooperating on a schedule." Kizer said.
After one writing workshop, Kizer fell in love with telling stories. So, she is still going strong. Her characters tend to be opinionated, outspoken, and stubborn.
Her first young adult series sold at auction to Delacorte Press. The star of Gert Garibaldi's Rants and Raves series, Gert Garibaldi, has been called “honest, brash, and outspoken” and her books take on traditionally taboo subjects.
Kizer also authored the Meridian series and several standalone Young Adult romances.
Amber Kizer lives in the Seattle area.
