David P. Warren

David P. Warren is an American lawyer and author known for his gripping legal thrillers. His novels often draw from his extensive experience in employment litigation, specifically cases involving whistleblowers.

David Warren grew up on the Central Coast of California and later pursued a career in law. He specialized in employment litigation, representing numerous whistleblowers over the years.

Warren's debut novel, The Whistleblower Onslaught (2017), introduces Scott Winslow, an attorney navigating a complex case involving an energy industry executive. The executive alleges he was fired for exposing unsafe conditions in coal mines, leading to a lawsuit that uncovers corporate corruption, missing records, and deadly threats. The success of this book marked the beginning of Warren's Scott Winslow Mysteries series.

Following The Whistleblower Onslaught, Warren published Imploded Lives (2018), a novel about a bank robbery gone awry, with hostages left to grapple with the aftermath. In Personal Violation (2019), Scott Winslow returns to represent a female executive in a high-stakes case against her CEO, suspected of rape.

In 2020, Warren released A Secret to Die For, the third book in the Scott Winslow series. The story centers on pharmaceutical executives who blow the whistle on falsified drug test results, leading to a fierce legal battle with a pharmaceutical giant. This novel explores the ethics of the pharmaceutical industry and the lengths companies will go to protect their profits.

Between Dreams and Nightmares (2022) presents a standalone thriller where Amanda Harmon becomes the primary suspect in her husband's murder while also being pursued by the FBI for stolen money linked to her deceased spouse. The Insiders' Club: Strangers in Crime (2023), the fourth book in the Scott Winslow series, follows investigator Lee Henry as he uncovers insider trading and finds himself a murder suspect.

"I love writing because it allows me to create stories that are uncomfortably plausible, with characters facing situations beyond their control," he says.

Warren's latest novel, The Senator's Murder (2024), is a legal thriller about Steve Anders, chief of staff to Senator Edward Buchanan. After the senator is found dead and Anders is accused of stealing classified files, attorney Adam Lucas steps in to defend him. The high-profile trial that ensues attracts national attention and is full of unexpected twists and turns.
