Laura Stewart is a Scottish author known for her cozy crime novels and romantic comedies. She debuted with a romantic comedy, Acting Mysterious, that reached the final stages of the Richard and Judy Search for a Bestseller competition.
Laura Stewart was born and raised near Glasgow. After obtaining a degree in English Literature from Glasgow University, she further honed her craft by participating in creative writing evening classes.
Laura also engages with her community by participating in a local choir and has ambitious plans for her garden and expanding her household to include bees, ducks, and alpacas. This connection to her surroundings and her plans for the future often find echoes in the settings and themes of her novels.
In 2024, Laura released Death at the Hunting Lodge, a cozy mystery set against the backdrop of a Scottish village. The plot weaves together a Gaelic pagan festival, an archaeological dig at a ruined abbey, and a chilling murder. The protagonist, Amelia Adams, finds her hotel at the center of the turmoil as guests and villagers clash over the dig and old secrets resurface, culminating in a mysterious death. Questions arise about the involvement of Moira, a tarot reader, and white witch, stirring the community to uncover whether a peace advocate could turn violent or if other forces are at play.
Beyond writing, Laura indulges in reading, with multiple books often in progress simultaneously. Her other passions include exploring art galleries and preparing meals for gatherings that extend into the evening, enjoyed with friends over good wine.
Laura Stewart resides in a bustling household on the outskirts of Glasgow with her husband and three daughters.
