RK Summers is an English author best known for her fantasy novel The Age of Magic (2024). She is passionate about literature and aims to read fifty books each year.
RK Summers was born in England in 1990. Her literary journey began at the age of five when she wrote a story about a dancing tree. Despite being a serious child, she was captivated by the magic of storytelling. Her early attempts included a Spyro the Dragon fan-fiction at age eight and a fantasy story inspired by Lord of the Rings at eleven.
In her teenage years, she wrote a vampire/demon novel, though she later found it too "emo" to read again. One of her dreams is to write fiction featuring an alliance between Alice Liddell, Dorothy Gale, and Wendy Darling.
Summers debuted with her novel The Old Ways (2015). Released six years after her initial foray into the fantasy genre, it established her presence in the literary world.
The Age of Magic (2024) is a testament to Summers' love for British folklore and legends. The story follows Tristan Rhymer, who grows up hearing tales of Albion, a realm filled with magic and monsters. As Albion faces a new threat, Queen Mab must seek the aid of a dragon to protect her realm. Tristan must harness his magic and ally with old enemies to save Albion from destruction.
Summers draws inspiration from British legends, aiming to bring lesser-known tales to light. Her influences include Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and JRR Tolkien. Her favorite genres include epic, high, low, and urban fantasy, and she occasionally enjoys a well-written thriller.
In her free time, RK Summers enjoys baking, afternoon tea, building book forts, exploring old witchcraft, and listening to Celtic folk music. Her hobbies include watching Marvel movies and playing video games.
RK Summers resides in the North East of England, where she finds inspiration in the bleak, windswept landscape.
