Laura Danks, an Italian-born author of Almost Forever(2018), Which Way to Happiness? (2021) and Us, Forever (2023).
Laura Danks was born and raised in Milan, Italy. She studied Classics in Milan and pursued further education in Professional Communications in London. Additionally, she holds an MA in Novel Writing and is currently completing an MSc in Sustainability.
In 2001, she moved to London and switched to writing in English and discovered a newfound ease with words. She recalls, "I started to seriously put a novel together, writing and reading a lot, until my written English was good enough for submission."
Laura's writing style is formal and proper, influenced by her classical education. She notes, "I find it challenging that many English words come from Latin, and I wish I could use more of them in my book, but they don't always fit in Commercial Fiction."
Her debut novel is a YA spy-fi story centered on a conspiracy theory dating back to the Space Race. Although not yet ready for submission, this trilogy remains close to her heart.
Laura's novels often draw from her extensive travels and personal experiences. She emphasizes the importance of realism in her work: "All the places in my book are cities or locations I've visited or lived in."
Aside from her literary endeavors, Laura is an advocate for social causes. She donates part of her royalties to the Stroke Association and supports the Jemima Layzell Trust, aiming to raise awareness for the NHS Organ Donation Opt-Out campaign.
Laura Danks now resides in Bedfordshire with her husband, two children, and their beloved cat, Hugo.
