Holly Seddon was born and raised in the sleepy south-west of England. Throughout her 15-year career, she worked as a journalist and editor in some of the most exciting newsrooms in London. Now Seddon is a full-time writer.
Her debut, Try Not to Breathe, was first published in January 2016 in the UK and has since been published worldwide. The story follows two main characters, Alex and Amy. Alex is struggling with alcoholism and isolation, and she's given an assignment to write about a coma ward. There, she meets Amy, a woman who has been in a coma for years after surviving a brutal attack in her teenage years.
Despite being comatose, Amy's mind is still active, and she is aware of her surroundings to some extent. As Alex delves into her story and investigates the unsolved attack, she unwittingly puts herself in danger and uncovers a web of secrets that link their pasts and pose a threat to their lives.
Her second novel, Don’t Close Your Eyes (2017), hit number one in the audiobook charts in the UK and USA. The book tells the story of twins Robin and Sarah, who were torn apart in their youth.
Seddon also authored Love Will Tear Us Apart (2018), The Hit List (2020), and The Woman On The Bridge (2022).
Her most recent work is The Short Straw (2023), a gothic thriller about three sisters taking — what seems like a refuge — in an abandoned manor house.
Holly Seddon now lives in Kent with her husband and four children.
