Peter Hogenkamp is an American practicing physician, public speaker, and author of medical fiction and thrillers. Hogenkamp was named a finalist for the prestigious 2019 Killer Nashville Claymore Award and the 2020 Vermont Writer's Prize.
Peter Hogenkamp was born in upstate New York and grew up in Clinton. Peter pursued his undergraduate education at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he earned his degree in 1986, thirty-six years after his father, Bill Hogenkamp.
Following his graduation, his premedical adviser sent him to Europe for three years, an experience for which he remains eternally grateful. During this time, Peter supposedly taught chemistry and algebra in Salzburg.
Hogenkamp entered Upstate Medical University in Syracuse in 1989, where he met his wife, Lisa (Sayles) Hogenkamp. After graduating, he started a residency at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, completing his specialty training in Family Medicine in 1996.
When he turned forty, Peter started penciling some stories into a notebook, beginning the fulfillment of his lifetime goal to be an author. Now he has penned medical fiction and thrillers that have captivated readers worldwide.
His published works include The Intern (2020), The Vatican Conspiracy (2020), The Vatican Secret (2021), and Cospirazione Vaticano (2021). Furthermore, Peter's upcoming novel, The Woman from Death Row, marks the first installment of the thrilling Jade Stryker series and is set to be published by Tirgearr Publishing in 2023.
Beyond his writing endeavors, Peter is an Assistant Professor at the University of Vermont's College of Medicine. He imparts his knowledge to residents at the Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.
Peter is a sought-after medical speaker, delivering impactful lectures on diabetes and obesity. His expertise has earned him invitations to speak at various events and conferences. Additionally, he has contributed his valuable insights to numerous advisory committees within the medical community, the municipality, and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington.
