I spent twenty-four years as a police officer in Southern California before having to retire in 2007 for medical reasons. During my tenure, I worked as an undercover narcotics officer, a detective for white collar crime and homicide, the training sergeant for the department, and a trainer for weaponless defense, impact weapons, taser, police knife, and pepperball gun among other roles. I now live in northern Idaho with my wife, two cats, and a black lab, and I spend my time in the much quieter pursuits of scuba diving, writing, fishing, boating, and taking long walks in the forest.
