I was born and raised in Singapore, which, despite being wealthy and modern, is still largely a conservative society. I struggled for years with what I now know were manic highs and depressive lows until I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of forty-two.After nearly 30 years of working in advertising and the hospitality industry in Singapore with global industry leaders such as Singapore Airlines, Ogilvy & Mather, and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, I moved to Bali in early 2010.In Bali, popularly known as Island of the Gods, I lived as owner and manager of Villa Juno, the island’s first luxury hosted Bed & Breakfast. For two years, I lived a peaceful life, surrounded by rice fields and the spiritual farmers who work the land.I learned to manage my disorder by allowing much flexibility in my daily routine, and credit my daily dosage of lithium for providing an essential element of balance. My main interests are cooking, reading, writing and watching foreign movies.
