Alice Burnett is a British author of the contemporary fiction Ideal Love, an intimate and life-affirming novel about love.
Alice Burnett grew up on a farm in Devon, England. She studied Mathematics at Cambridge University, followed by a degree in philosophy, a subject she is still passionate about.
She qualified as a lawyer in the City and worked in London and Paris before leaving law to write full‐time.
Her writing has been shortlisted for the Fish Short Story Prize and the New Philosopher Writers’ Award. Ideal Love (2017) is her first novel. It is the story of a young couple, musician Venus and lawyer Gilles, who are broken apart. After an argument with Gilles late one night, Venus is left devastated the next day by his sudden death.
She is currently working on a second.
Alice Burnett lives in London with her husband and three sons.
