The pulp magazine, Adventure, first appeared in 1910 and soon became renowned for its fiction from the top authors of the day. Lamb was a medieval scholar whose historical works were well received and later was a Hollywood screenwriter. “The Curved Sword” is one of Lamb’s tales featuring Khlit the Cossack.
